The most recent releases have a remastered version that, evidently is re-edited in some way. The ADV dvd version is just like the original VHS. One distinction on the extra content- Sentinels the movie version. At least, that is how it is being sold- I have not viewed the new version with my own eyes. The content on the un-remastered sets (original ADV DVD release, or new Amazon/Lionsgate version) is also the same. If you are a crazy quality wonk, the versions that are spread over more discs tend to show less compression artifacts, but that is something that many people won’t see- but it is more prominent on large screen, high-resolution A/V systems.
So the most current version (20-disc set in one box) is the way to go if starting from scratch. Simply put: the content of the episodes is no different in any of the remastered sets, only the amount of extras.
